Counselor III – Off Main Clinic

Provides direct service to unit clients. Assists the Program Officer in clinical, programmatic and administrative duties. Provides direct service to unit clients through counseling relationships in the treatment program. Assists in recruiting, screening, interviewing and recommending hiring of staff appropriate to unit function. Assists with individual and group supervision to unit staff both programmatically and clinically. Create, maintain and supervise adjunctive unit program. Assists with staff evaluations of staff supervised in unit. Networks with community organizations, liaison and collateral contacts with community groups and referral sources. Provides public relations and public speaking as representative of unit and agency. Assists in developing program direction of unit and agency. Assists with staff scheduling in unit. Provides shift coverage as needed. Fills in during absence of Program Officer. To be available for on-call status to work in any Unit within the Agency, as required including on-call status for 24-hour Crisis Intervention Unit. Other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications: The Counselor III position requires mastery of clinical skills, as related to the Unit where employed. This key position must be able to assess the therapeutic needs of the clients, the skills of the counseling staff, and provide direction for overall clinical approach. The person must also work closely with the Program Officer to implement program directives and develop ongoing program policy. Candidates for this position must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work and two years related work experience. Candidates must have 2 years of Counselor II experience or the equivalent. The equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or personal recovery may be substituted for the above. A valid California driver’s license may be required. Preference will be given to persons with clinical supervisory experience. Some programs and/or funding sources may require LMFCC, LCSW or registered intern.

Starting pay $4,013 – $4,424 per month D.O.E. Additional 5% if Bilingual (E/S). Generous benefits package including dental and vision coverage. AA/EOE.
