Support Nurse / LVN – Off Main Clinic

Nurse at Off Main Clinic dispenses methadone in accordance with State and Federal regulations and Agency policies; maintains accurate records of all methadone received and dispensed in accordance with DEA ( Drug Enforcement Agency) requirements, takes clients vital signs as needed during admissions, annuals and consultations; maintains adequate inventory of all medical inventory of all medications and supplies and interfaces with pharmacies, laboratories, and other related businesses; assists in the coordination of patient care with jails, hospitals and other methadone clinics; will be scheduled to work weekends and holidays; attends regular staff meetings and participates in program and agency trainings.

Essential duties include Assesses each patient quickly for opiate abuse and alcohol intoxication before dispensing methadone. Dispenses methadone according to state and federal regulations and CARF standards and obtain verbal orders when needed. Prints daily/monthly dispensing reports. Maintains drug inventory; orders clinical supplies; maintains equipment in working order and coordinates regular servicing. Communicates pertinent information regarding patients to program director, counselors and medical contract staff as needed. Obtains urine specimens and prepares specimens to send to the lab; records specimen results in computer and distributes hard copy specimen results to counselors. Obtains vital signs for new patients and annuals to be seen by Doctor. Places PPD tests and gives CXR referrals as ordered; enters PPD and CXR results into patient charts. Documents patients’ medication and routes to doctor for approval. Sets up and enrolls temporary transfers and discharges temporary transfers according to clinic procedures. Maintains log of new patients and annuals. Writes incident reports as needed. Participates in continuing quality improvement processes and evaluating the effectiveness of the program; Attends program and agency staff meetings. Enforces the policies and procedures of the Off Main Clinic and Community Human Services.

Minimum qualifications must be a Licensed RN, LVN, or Psych. Tech. Have CPR and first aid certification. Two years clean and sober if in recovery. Basic computer skills and ability to learn technology. Oral and written communications skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff and medical professionals. Crisis intervention skills and ability to perform in crisis situations. Ability to exercise appropriate judgment and decision making. Ability to be flexible and adaptable in any given situation. Ability to work effectively under stress and conflict. Ability to work as member or treatment team. Ability to take direction and work under general supervision. Ability to work effectively and responsibly in outpatient setting. Oral and written fluency in English language. Valid California driver’s license. Automobile insurance. TB clearance (at initial hire and annually thereafter).

*Part-Time rate of pay $27.01 per hour, plus an additional 5% if bilingual. (20-25 hours a week)
