Community Human Services (CHS) announced on March 23, 2021 that it has received a grant of $27,927 from the Women’s Fund Endowment of the Community Foundation for Monterey County in support of Casa de Noche Buena, the first homeless shelter for women and families with children on the Monterey Peninsula. The grant is designated for operating support of the shelter, which is a joint project of Community Human Services and Gathering for Women.

“This unsolicited grant came as a very pleasant surprise,” said the organization’s CEO Robin McCrae. “The timing couldn’t have been better, arriving the same week that we formally celebrated the shelter’s grand opening. The Community Foundation’s ongoing support will help us continue to offer beds and wraparound services to homeless women and families with children in our community.”

Casa de Noche Buena opened in January 2021. For more information about the shelter, visit https://chservices.org/homelessness/casa-de-noche-buena.
