Board of Directors

Community Human Services is both a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a Joint Powers Authority (JPA). This structure gives CHS a distinctive role in Monterey County by combining nonprofit direct service with public agency governance.

As a nonprofit, CHS is mission-driven, community-based, and focused on helping individuals and families access care, stability, recovery, and support. As a Joint Powers Authority, CHS is governed by a Board of Directors with representatives appointed by participating cities and educational agencies.

This governance model strengthens regional coordination and public accountability while helping CHS respond to complex community needs that no single city or district can address alone, including mental health, substance use disorder treatment, homelessness, youth services, and family support.
