Monterey, CA, July 6, 2022 – Community Human Services (CHS) board of directors recently elected a new chairperson, vice-chair and finance chair. In the June meeting of the board of directors, Mary Ann Carbone was elected as chairperson of the board with Cristy Dawson as vice chair and Annette Yee Steck as finance committee chair.
“We’re excited to have someone with Mary Ann’s expertise leading the board during this critical time, with Shuman Hearthouse, a new women and families with children shelter, on the horizon,” said CHS CEO Robin McCrae. “We have worked diligently to ensure CHS’s board and leadership represents a variety of people from the local communities we serve.”
Mary Ann Carbone, the current mayor of Sand City, has been on the Sand City City Council for over 25 years and served as vice-mayor prior to becoming mayor. Ms. Carbone became the first female, as well as the first-ever Sand City mayor of indigenous heritage, in 2017. Cristy Dawson, a retired educator, school administrator, and current member of the Pacific Grove Unified School District board, along with Annette Yee Steck, a school district financial advisor and current trustee on the Monterey County Board of Education, round out the newly elected officers of the CHS board of directors.
