(Part-Time) – Parent Education Instructor

MAXIMUM 16 HOURS PER WEEK

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Facilitates Parent Education classes employing CHS’s designated parent education curriculum, and classes are taught at various locations around the Monterey county.
  • Maintain and document: class rosters, attendance records, completion lists – as well as submitting them in in a timely manner to their supervisor.
  • Works in coordination with site staff and Parent Education Coordinator to insure outstanding program quality and experience for enrollees.
  • Engage with and promote program to Adults who are referred to Parent Education Program.
  • Engage with members of the public and clients to promote improvement of curricular and life goals, based off program curriculum and experiences.
  • Monitoring progress and goals fulfillment among enrolled adults.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Oral and written communication skills. Bilingual in Spanish highly desirable.
  • Experience in facilitating/teaching in a group setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients
  • Ability to take direction and work under general supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively, and able to take responsibility for actions.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in any given situation.
  • Ability to work roughly 8 hours weekly.
  • Maintain boundaries with clients.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Physical, mental and emotional stamina to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position
  • Mental acuity to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to write, use the telephone, computer, calculator and office machines at required speed and accuracy
  • Vision sufficient to read handwritten and printed materials and the display screen of various office equipment and machines
  • Hearing sufficient to communicate in person and hold telephone conversations in the normal range;
  • Speaking ability in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversational distances on the telephone and addressing groups
  • Physical stamina sufficient to sustain light to medium physical labor for up to 8 hours, sit and/or walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Physical mobility sufficient to move about the work environment for sustained periods of time on hard flooring, climb slopes, stairs, ramps and to respond to emergency situations
  • Physical strength sufficient to periodically lift, carry, push and/or pull 40 pounds of materials or supplies; occasionally lift, carry, push and/or pull more than 40 pounds with assistance

Pay Rate: $26.77 – $32.55 per hour. Additional 5% if bilingual
