Safe Passage – Youth Transitional Housing
Program Description
Safe Passage is a transitional supportive housing program in downtown Monterey offering six beds for homeless youth ages 18 to 24, including those aging out of foster care. Residents may stay for up to 24 months while working, attending school, and building life skills to transition to independent adulthood. Income is not a prerequisite for entry.
How to Get Started
Safe Passage requires a referral through the Coalition of Homeless Service Providers, after completion of a CARS assessment. Please contact CHSP for more information.

- Individualized learning plans
- Counseling and case management
- Life skills education (finance, conflict resolution, decision-making)
- Assistance obtaining mainstream benefits
- Education, employment, and housing assistance
- Food, clothing, and basic needs support

Cost
Rent is calculated at 30% of resident’s adjusted gross income.
