Safe Place Salinas Youth Navigation Center
Program Description
Safe Place Navigation Centers in Monterey and Salinas serve homeless and runaway youth aged 18-24, providing resources to transition off the streets into education, employment, and permanent housing. Monterey Safe Place additionally offers emergency overnight shelter 7 nights a week. Safe Place is a comprehensive program for at-risk runaway and homeless youth that provides everything from street outreach, survival aid and temporary shelter to counseling, family reunification and aftercare.
How to Get Started
Walk-in services available during drop-in hours. Emergency shelter check-in 7-9 PM.
Services Offered
- Crisis intervention
- Basic survival aid (food, clothing, hygiene products)
- Linkages to housing, employment, education, and benefits
- Referrals to health, mental health, and substance abuse services

Youth Shelter
- Youth shelter provides youth ages 18-24 with a place to spend the night seven (7) days a week. Check-in between 7PM-9PM.
**In the event of a closure, a notice will be posted on the building. - Weekly Meals: Wednesday Hot Breakfast at 9am, Thursdays Hot Lunch at 11:30am – 12:30pm
- Drop-In Hours: Mon/Wed/Fri 9am – 11am / Essentials Table (1stfloor) Sat/Sun 9am – 11am
Safe Place Salinas
Program Description Safe Place Salinas is a Youth Navigation and Resource Center helping homeless youth aged 18-24 transition to permanent housing.
How to Get Started Drop-in hours Tuesday through Sunday. Housing Navigator available Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Appointments recommended but not required.
Services Offered
- Financial assistance for rent, applications, and deposits
- Employment, education, and benefits assistance
- Crisis counseling and resolution
- Street outreach seven days a week
- Access to food, clothing, hygiene/first aid products
- Computer and internet access during drop-in hours
Hours of Operation
Drop-in: Tue-Sun, 10 AM–12 PM and 2 PM–4 PM
Housing Navigator: Tue, Thu, Sun, 9 AM–6 PM
Cost
Services are provided free of charge in English and Spanish.
