Program Officer II, SHARE Center
The Program Officer II provides operational leadership for the SHARE Center, Monterey County’s largest homeless shelter, serving men, women, and families with 100 shelter beds. This position oversees the delivery of high-quality services in a safe, respectful, and well-maintained shelter environment while supporting the program’s core mission of helping guests transition to permanent housing and increased self-sufficiency. The Program Officer II manages daily shelter operations and supervises approximately 21 full-time and part-time staff, ensuring program standards, service coordination, and effective support for individuals experiencing homelessness. Responsibilities include overseeing HMIS data integrity and reporting, contributing to program planning and budget recommendations, supporting operations of the Safe Place Salinas Homeless Youth Navigation Center, and helping guide strategic goals that improve housing outcomes for shelter guests.
The SHARE Center operates in partnership with the County of Monterey, the City of Salinas, and numerous community organizations, and the Program Officer II represents the program in collaborative service coordination and community outreach. This position reports to the Senior Program Officer of Homeless Services. A bachelor’s degree is required; experience in human services, homelessness programs, or nonprofit program management is preferred. The position generally works regular business hours but may require occasional evenings, weekends, or emergency response coverage to support shelter operations.
Starting salary $89,297 – $108,542 annually, depending on experience. Additional 5% bilingual differential available for English/Spanish speakers. Generous benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and paid leave.
