^Full-Time Program Coordinator, Safe Passage
The Program Coordinator provides direct oversight of Safe Passage, a transitional housing program serving homeless youth aged 18-24 years, with 6 available beds. This role supports clients through counseling, case management, and life skills training to foster self-sufficiency. Responsibilities include conducting client assessments, assisting with goal setting and achievement, and coordinating life skills education activities. The Program Coordinator supervises a team of 4 part-time support counselors who cover evening and overnight shifts, ensuring client safety and well-being. The position involves establishing partnerships with county, city, and community organizations and businesses to facilitate referrals and access to essential resources. Additionally, the Program Coordinator collaborates with the Program Officer/Senior Program Officer to develop and implement policies, procedures, and administrative systems for smooth program operation. Maintaining client confidentiality, compiling data, preparing reports (including annual performance reports), and conducting evaluations are integral parts of this role. The Program Coordinator collects and transmits data online in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), and assists clients with applications for CalFresh, SDI, and other mainstream benefits. Regular availability for evening and weekend hours is required, alongside coordinating referrals to case management and housing navigation services.
This position requires experience in a healthcare setting, as well as strong skills in program development, leadership, and administration. The role is pivotal in assessing the comprehensive needs of clients and supporting them in goal development and achievement. Close collaboration with the Program Officer in developing policies, procedures, forms, files, and overseeing all aspects of the program is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal relations, and administrative skills are also crucial. Preferred qualifications include experience in program development. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work, and possess two years of related work experience. Alternatively, certification as an alcohol and drug counselor with two years of related work experience is acceptable. An equivalent combination of education, related experience, and/or personal recovery may substitute for the specified requirements.
Salary $58,777-$71,444/year, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits. Additional 5% pay if bilingual/Spanish.
